SPRING CREEK ROCK and DUANE CLARK
Spring Creek Rock
had a great impact on the Treeing Walker Breed. Not because of a lot
of hype or full page color ads every month in the magazines. He had an
impact for a number of reasons.
He had a good solid pedigree besides being a grandson of Finley River Chief.
He
was a good looking hound that was colored up differently then a
majority of the walker hounds of the day. His looks got people wanting
to know more about him.
He was a good coon hound that could also compete in the big hunts of the day.
He
was the National Grand Nite Champion 2 years in a row and the National
Grand Nite Champion Treeing Walker 3 years in a row. Titles won at
Autumn Oak. Then Duane Clark put Spring Creek Rock in the new
Professional Organization PCA and their hunts. There again Spring
Creek Rock proved he was a winner.
He reproduced top hounds of his day. Many of his sons and daughters
were not only big winners they also proved to be good reproducers for
the Treeing Walker Breed.
It was because of SPRING CREEK ROCK that people started talking about a Spring Creek Strain of hounds. BUT
There were other hounds from the Spring Creek Kennels of Duane Clark.
In this picture you will see
GRAND NITE CHAMPION SPRING CREEK SPARKIE
1966 ACHA WORLD CHAMPION GRAND NITE CHAMPION SPRING CREEK SMOKEY
DUAL CHAMPION SPRING CREEK C.B.
The
trophies showed here was from a hunt held June 3, 1967 at Springdale,
Arkansas. In this hunt Spring Creek Sparkie won the Grand Nite Champion
Hunt. Spring Creek Smokey won the Nite Champion Hunt. Spring Creek
C.B. won the Registered Hunt.
Duane Clark had the foresight
to collect Spring Creek Rock semen before people even knew if it would
ever be an acceptable practice. Duane Clark deserves and is owed better
then what happened with HIS Rock semen.
